Doly Begum nominated as the NDP candidate for Scarborough Southwest

SCARBOROUGH — New Democrats came together to nominate Doly Begum as the NDP candidate for re-election in Scarborough Southwest.

“I’ve been honoured to represent our vibrant community at Queen’s Park” said Begum, a two-term MPP who has served as the Deputy Leader of the Official Opposition and Critic for Immigration Services. “After seven years of Doug Ford, life has only gotten more expensive. People in Scarborough Southwest deserve a better, more affordable life with a government that’s on their side.”

Doly has been a strong voice for the diverse communities of Scarborough and immigrant families throughout Ontario. She has introduced legislation to reduce home heating costs, protect consumers from scams, and deliver more accessible transit for everyone.

“Doly has been a fighter for Scarborough” said Marit Stiles, Ontario NDP leader. “She’s been a vital leader on our team, and I’m looking forward to working together to build an affordable Ontario with opportunity for everyone.
